Where can you access your
WebCT Class on Campus?
- The Library at any RCC Campus. You
must check out a computer in the student lab, computers in the
reference area of the Library do not have access to WebCT courses
- The Computer Labs at any RCC
Campus. Once you register at RCC for a class you are assigned a
login and a password. Please ask one of the lab aides ( in the
blue vests) for help if you run into difficulty. You can check the
computer lab schedule on both campuses by going to their Web site. [Click

What do I need to access
WebCT off Campus?
- Access to a computer that meets the
minimum requirements. [Click Here]
- Access to the Internet using either
Netscape 4.76 and/or Internet Explorer 5.0.
WebCT
is NOT compatible
with the latest versions of:
- Netscape 4.78 and 6.0
- Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.0.

What are the
minimum Computing and
Internet Access Requirements?
- A thorough understanding of your
computer operating system
- A Pentium PC running Windows 95 or
higher (Pentium
166 highly recommended) OR a Macintosh system 7.5 or better
- 64 Mb Ram (128 Mb highly recommended) and
at least 50 Mb of available disk space for assignments
- 28.8 modem (56K or better highly
recommended)
- an ISP (Internet Service
Provider).
Users of AOL (see "What if I
use AOL")
- Netscape 4.76 or Microsoft Internet
Explorer 5.0
(NOT Supported: IE5.5 or 6.0; Netscape 4.78, 6.0)

- A word processing
software package (Microsoft Word is a RCC standard)
- Please check your individual classes for
specific software requirements that may go beyond the minimum that is
specified above.
Some classes may require downloading specific
versions of required software for the course.

responsible for the software and equipment maintenance and setup on their
computer.
It is highly recommend that you have current virus checking

Browser Settings
The preferences/options in your web browser must have both "Java
Enabled" and "JavaScript Enabled" selected.
To make sure you are always looking at the most recent version of a
WebCT page, set your browser to reload the page from the server every
time you visit the page. To set this option, look for the Option/Preferences
menu selection and make sure that "Every Time" is selected.

What if I use AOL?
It is recommended that if you are using
America Online for your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you should use
Netscape 4.76 or Internet Explorer 5.0 as your Internet Browser instead of AOL's built-in
browser.

Quiz Tips and Hints
- After answering a question, press the
save question button and wait the the red ball to turn into a green
star before answering the next question.
- If your quiz has a password, the only
person who can give you the password to enter the quiz is your
instructor.
- When viewing the results of a
quiz. The blue triangle indicates the answer you have selected
and the correct answer is denoted by the percent mark.

Other Items of Interest
You must make sure that you exit (close)
your browser by closing the program when you are finished with your
WebCT session. If you leave your workstation unattended after
logging on to your WebCT account anyone can access your WebCT courses
while Netscape or Internet Explorer is running. They will have
access to all of your courses in your name, they can access your course
materials, including the ability to take quizzes, see your quiz results
and send e-mail or post messages to the bulletin board in your name.
When taking quizzes make sure that when
you press "Submit Answer" button, that you wait for the red
ball to turn into a green star before going to the next question.
If you press the "Submit Answer" before the previous
questions' red ball has turned into a green star, you risk the possibility
of the previous questions' answer not to be recorded properly.
